Nashville Series

While looking through my take from the Broadway street assignment, I noticed that a lot of my favorite images had only one person in them. So here is a portrait series of sorts, even though only three are posed.

A manager of the boots store takes a cigarette break.

A woman looks around at the posters in the Hatch Show Print Shop, one of the oldest letterpress shops in the US.

Actress Natalie Irby takes a break from working on a short film being made upstairs.

A bus driver poses for a photo in front of a tour bus that for the night had been converted into a mobile hotel for a bachelor party.

A girl who plays ukulele in a traveling band poses for a photo.
"I'm in a bad place right now," she said. "My friend just died."

A homeless woman looks for a place to sleep on a drizzly Nashville night.

A drunken homeless man gathers his things before panhandling.

A street sweeper cleans up at 3 am.

A woman texts in a doorway after the bars have closed.

  1. Love the ukulele player photo - her pain comes through the lens - made my heart fill with compassion
