Marine Corps Sgt. Mike Nicholson, 23, practices throwing a baseball in his parent's front yard with George Siller of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in preparation for Nicholson throwing out the first pitch at the Rays game Monday night. Nicholson lost both his legs and his left arm in an IED attack in Afghanistan in 2011, and says his attitude had a lot to do with his recovery. "If you sit there and sulk about it you're never going to get through it," said Nicholson. George Siller and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation are currently raising funds to build Nicholson a house in South Tampa. After playing catch Monday morning, Siller said he is not worried about Nicholson successfully throwing the ceremonial first pitch. "If you can walk into a battle you can throw a pitch," said Siller. |
